Turn your name into a domain hack

A domain hack is a domain where the extension spells the end of the name, like instagr.am for Instagram or delicio.us for Delicious. If your brand name happens to end in the right letters, you can get a short, memorable domain that reads as your full name.

Enter your name or your current domain above. The checker finds every extension that finishes it, tries its plural and -ing form too, and checks each option live so you know which ones are still free.

Examples

delicious → delicio.usThe name ends in “us”, so the .us extension finishes it.
studio → stud.ioEnds in “io”: .io takes over the last two letters.
guide → gui.deEnds in “de”, the German extension.
recipe → reci.peEnds in “pe”, the extension of Peru.
domize → domiz.esA variation: the plural “domizes” ends in “es”, the Spanish extension.

No hack for your name?

Most names don’t end in the letters of an extension that’s for sale. If yours doesn’t, describe your project to the domain hack generator and it will suggest new names that do. Or check your name across .com, .io and more with the domain availability checker.

Frequently asked questions

What does the domain hack checker do?+

It takes a name you already have – your brand, product or current domain – and finds every domain extension that spells its last letters. For “delicious” that is delicio.us. Each option is then checked live, so you can see straight away which ones you can still register.

Why doesn’t my name have a domain hack?+

A hack only works when your name ends in the same letters as an extension that is for sale. Many famous hacks use extensions like .ly, .am or .be that Namecheap doesn’t sell, so they aren’t shown. If your name has no exact hack, the checker also tries its plural and -ing form, and the domain hack generator can suggest new names that do work.

Can I use a domain hack next to my .com?+

Yes, and it’s one of the best uses for one. Keep your main site on your .com and use the hack as a short link for social media, print or sharing, like YouTube does with youtu.be. Point it at your main site with a redirect.

What do “may be a premium price” results mean?+

On newer extensions like .ing, .art or .one, the registry charges premium prices for many real words. The availability check can’t see that price, so those results are marked. Click Register to see the real price on Namecheap before you decide.

Are there rules for registering these extensions?+

Most are open to anyone. A few have light rules: .us asks for a link to the United States, .de needs a contact address in Germany (Namecheap can provide one) and .es asks for an ID. You’ll see these during checkout.
