What makes a domain name SEO-friendly?

Your domain is the first thing people see in search results, links and ads. An SEO-friendly domain won't rank you on its own, but it makes every other part of SEO easier: more people click it, remember it, type it correctly and link to it. Every name this generator suggests follows these rules:

Short and easy to type

Aim for 6–15 characters. Short domains are easier to remember, less likely to be mistyped and look cleaner in search results and on social media.

Relevant to your topic

A keyword or a clear hint at what you do tells visitors (and Google) what to expect before they click. "brewguide.com" says more than "zentro.com".

No hyphens or numbers

Hyphens and digits are hard to say out loud ("is that the number 4 or the word four?") and hyphenated domains are often associated with spam.

A trusted extension

.com is still the default people type and trust most. .net, .co and .io work well too. Very unusual extensions can lower click-through rates.

Brandable, not stuffed

Keyword + short brand word ("brewly", "getbrew", "brewhub") beats a long exact-match string like "best-coffee-brewing-guides-online.com".

Passes the radio test

If you said it out loud once, could someone type it correctly? If not, people will end up on the wrong site.

Do exact-match domains still work?

Not like they used to. Domains like cheapflightstoparis.com once ranked almost automatically, but Google reduced that advantage years ago. Today an exact-match domain with thin content won't outrank a strong brand.

The approach that works best now is keyword + brand: a name that hints at your topic so searchers know what you do, but is still unique enough to build a brand around. That's exactly what this generator is tuned for.

How to use the generator

  1. Describe your site in a few words, including the main keyword you want to be found for – for example “dog training courses online”.
  2. Adjust the settings if you like. By default you get .com, .net, .co and .io names up to 15 characters long.
  3. Pick a name you like. Every suggestion has already been checked for availability – click one to register it.

Frequently asked questions

Does my domain name affect SEO?+

A little, but less than most people think. Google stopped giving exact-match domains a big ranking boost years ago. What a good domain still does is improve click-through rate, get remembered and shared, and earn natural links – all of which help your rankings indirectly.

Should my domain include keywords?+

It helps if it fits naturally. A keyword makes your topic obvious at a glance, which can increase clicks from search results. Combine it with a short brandable word rather than stuffing several keywords into one name.

Is .com better for SEO than other extensions?+

Google treats generic extensions like .com, .net, .io and .co equally for ranking. But .com is what people type by default and trust most, so it usually gets more direct traffic and clicks. Country domains like .de or .ca are a good choice if you only target one country.

Are hyphens in domain names bad for SEO?+

Hyphens don't directly hurt rankings, but they make a domain harder to say, remember and type, and they're common on spammy sites. One hyphen is acceptable if there's no alternative; more than that is best avoided.

How long should a domain name be?+

Shorter is better. Most memorable domains are under 15 characters (excluding the extension), and two words is a good maximum. This generator defaults to 15 characters – you can change it in the settings.

How is this different from the regular Domize generator?+

The main Domize generator focuses on creative, invented brand names. This version is tuned for SEO: it keeps your topic's keyword in the name, never uses hyphens or numbers, prefers trusted extensions like .com, and keeps names short by default.
